A 31-year-old man was arrested in Laredo after police said he broke into a home, assaulted a woman with a baseball bat, stole a vehicle, and allegedly attacked officers during his arrest.
The incidents unfolded Sunday, Sept. 13, along Corpus Christi Street, prompting multiple police responses within minutes.
Woman Assaulted During Home Invasion
According to the Laredo Police Department, officers were called at approximately 5:41 p.m. to a reported home invasion in the 500 block of Corpus Christi Street.
Police said the suspect entered the residence and assaulted a woman with a baseball bat. The victim suffered injuries and was taken to Laredo Medical Center for treatment. Her injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
The violent encounter was followed almost immediately by another reported crime nearby.
Suspect Allegedly Stole Honda Accord
About two minutes after officers responded to the home invasion, police received another call from the 600 block of Corpus Christi Street involving a stolen silver Honda Accord.
Investigators said a woman was inside the vehicle when the suspect entered the driver’s seat. She managed to escape before the suspect drove away.
The woman suffered minor injuries during the incident, according to police.
The rapid sequence of calls led officers to investigate whether the incidents were connected. As the investigation continued, additional victims came forward.
Two Vehicles Reported Burglarized
While officers were investigating the stolen Honda Accord, two more victims reported that their vehicles had been burglarized shortly before the home invasion.
Police subsequently identified the suspect as Luis Enrique Castillo, 31.
Authorities said Castillo resisted officers and assaulted two police officers during his arrest. The circumstances of the arrest led to several additional charges being filed against him.
Castillo Faces Multiple Criminal Charges
Jail records indicate that Castillo was booked into Webb County Jail following the incidents.
He faces charges including burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a felony, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and robbery. He was also charged with assault of a peace officer or judge, harassment of a public servant, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, and resisting arrest, search or transport.
In addition, Castillo faces two counts of vehicle burglary and a theft charge involving property valued between $100 and $750.
The number and seriousness of the charges reflect the multiple incidents police investigated along Corpus Christi Street.

As of Monday afternoon, Castillo remained in custody at Webb County Jail. No bond information was listed in the available jail records.
The case remains subject to the legal process, and the charges against Castillo are allegations unless proven in court.
Previous Arrests Listed in Records
Jail records also show that Castillo has been arrested several times before.
According to the records, he had previous arrests in 2012, 2013, and 2014, each involving marijuana possession.
More recently, Castillo was arrested in May on a charge involving a terroristic threat against a family or household member. Records also list two charges of assault causing bodily injury to a family member from that arrest.
Those previous cases are separate from the charges stemming from the Sept. 13 incidents.
