Odin Hensley, a senior on the Lake Travis varsity football team, is receiving treatment at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin. A fundraising campaign created for his family says doctors continue to monitor concerns involving his brain and other organs following the medical emergency.
The incident has prompted an outpouring of support for Hensley and his family as the Lake Travis football community prepares for the upcoming 2026 season.
Odin Hensley Suffers Cardiac Arrest at Practice
According to the fundraising campaign, Hensley suffered cardiac arrest during football practice Monday. Emergency responders arrived at Lake Travis High School shortly after 8 a.m. following an initial report of a seizure involving a teenage patient.
Medics provided advanced life support at the scene before Travis County STAR Flight transported Hensley to Dell Children’s Medical Center in critical condition.
Lake Travis athletic director and head football coach Hank Carter later confirmed that a player had experienced a serious health emergency during practice.
The fundraiser subsequently identified Hensley and provided additional details about the severity of his condition.
Doctors Continue to Monitor His Recovery
Hensley remains in the intensive care unit as doctors closely evaluate his condition. According to the fundraiser, physicians have expressed concerns about his brain and other organs following the cardiac arrest.

Additionally, supporters who cannot contribute financially have been encouraged to share the fundraiser and help expand its reach.
The campaign emphasizes that Hensley’s family should be able to concentrate on his health rather than the financial pressure created by a prolonged hospitalization and potential rehabilitation.
