Federal immigration authorities arrested 24 people during a targeted enforcement operation in Corpus Christi on May 13, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.
ICE carried out the one-day operation in coordination with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Officials said the arrests involved individuals accused or convicted of various criminal offenses, including theft, assault, and driving while intoxicated.
The agency stated that some of those arrested also had records tied to possession of a controlled substance, criminal trespass, and illegal reentry into the United States. In addition, several individuals may face new federal charges related to unlawful reentry.
