In a recent incident, Corpus Christi Police apprehended a suspect, Wesley Huff, aged 36, for multiple charges, including burglary and aggravated assault. The event unfolded on Sunday evening, November 12, in the Annaville area when the police received a burglary alert at approximately 6:14 p.m.
Responding to the call, officers arrived at a residence in the 4000 block of River Walk Drive. According to CCPD Public Information Senior Officer Antonio Contreras, the police were informed that the property should have been unoccupied at the time. Upon arrival, officers noticed an open gate and a broken window on the side of the house. Contreras detailed that they found Huff moving inside the house.
The situation escalated when police while setting up a perimeter around the house, heard gunshots from within. Fortunately, when Huff exited the house through the garage door, he was unarmed and complied with the officers’ instructions, leading to his arrest without further incident.
A key concern during such incidents is the safety of nearby residents. In this case, a neighbor suffered non-life-threatening injuries from stray shrapnel resulting from the gunfire. He received on-scene medical treatment.
Wesley Huff now faces serious charges, including Deadly Conduct-Discharge Firearm (Aggravated Assault), Burglary of a Habitation, and Violation of a Court Order. Following his arrest, he was taken to the City Detention Center for processing.

The Corpus Christi Police Department’s swift response and strategic handling of the condition prevented further harm and ensured the suspect’s arrest. The case also serves as a reminder of the importance of community vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious activities to the authorities.
The CCPD continues investigating the incident and urges anyone with additional information to come forward.
