According to Port Aransas police, a tragic crash occurred in which a suspected drunk driver collided with a golf cart carrying six members of a single family on Friday night at the intersection of Alister Street and Roberts Avenue. As a result of the devastating crash, three individuals suffered serious injuries. Emergency responders immediately transported the injured to hospitals in Corpus Christi, and HALO flight airlifted one of them for urgent medical attention.
Kelsey Bourque, along with her mother, father, pregnant sister, brother-in-law, and husband, had planned to celebrate their mother’s 64th birthday in Port Aransas. They travelled from Austin, eager to experience the coastal town and decided to rent a golf cart as part of the joyful celebration.
However, their vacation quickly turned into a nightmarish ordeal when tragedy struck. A statement from Bourque to 3NEWS revealed the heartbreaking details. HALO flight airlifted her mother to the hospital, and her current condition remains uncertain.
Bourque’s husband had to undergo surgery, with another procedure scheduled for tomorrow. Fortunately, her pregnant sister only suffered a broken leg, and the unborn baby girl is safe.
The entire family endured a traumatic experience, and Bourque mentioned that her father endured multiple broken ribs and lacerations.
Cindy Roberge, a 62-year-old resident of Port Aransas, is the person responsible for this devastating accident and faces charges of intoxication assault with a vehicle causing bodily injury. Authorities are currently holding Roberge at Nueces County Jail with a bond set at $30,000. Meanwhile, the family is actively grappling with the aftermath of the incident, holding onto hope for recovery and healing during this challenging time.
