On Monday, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football honored Brenda Marshall, athletic director of Corpus Christi Independent School District (CCISD), as one of the 10 most influential women in Texas high school football. Her leadership continues to break barriers and inspire young athletes across the state.
Marshall’s journey in athletics is a story of dedication, resilience, and impact. A proud graduate of Ray High School, Class of 1973, she has been an integral part of CCISD since 1986. By 2004, she took on the role of athletic director, where she worked tirelessly to create equal opportunities for student-athletes and promote excellence in school sports.
Prestigious Honors and Recognition
In 2024, Marshall received the Jody Conradt Award, a prestigious honor presented by the Texas High School Coaches Association. The award recognizes female coaches who have shown unwavering commitment to advancing girls and women in athletics. Named after legendary coach Jody Conradt, it highlights leadership, advocacy, and lifelong service—qualities Marshall fully embodies.
In addition, she will be inducted into the Texas High School Athletic Directors Association Hall of Honor, joining a select group of administrators who have made a lasting impact on high school sports across the state.
From Athlete to Trailblazer
Before stepping into her leadership role, Brenda Marshall CCISD made her mark as a standout athlete. She played softball at the University of Texas at Arlington and became the first female inducted into the school’s Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame. In 2019, she further solidified her legacy when the Coastal Bend Coaches Association Hall of Honor welcomed her for her lasting impact on athletics in South Texas.
